The Jeep Compass is a compact SUV with plenty of room inside, using a powerful and economical 2.4-liter inline 4-cylinder with 172 hp and 165 lb-ft of torque, an automatic transmission, look at the gas mileage of 21 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. Safety equipment includes frontal airbags, front side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags, active head restraints, front seat side airbags, and active head restraints. Smooth frontal fascia with black air dam, recessed to lessen drag, and tidy small fog lights in trapezoid pockets. Aerodynamic belly pans run the full length of the chassis, chasing fuel mileage. The instrument panel is redesigned nicely, with clean white numbers and needles and a nice backlight. Tilt steering with cruise control that works, power windows, power door locks, dual power mirrors, driver power seat, heated leather interior, automatic climate control with heat and a/c controls. For four adults, the Compass's interior does the job, but the driving position is upright yet quite carlike. In the back, there's enough headroom for most adults. But the interior is well laid out and comes with plenty of cubbies and bins for storing smaller items, plus a number of innovative features. Factory 368-watt nine-speaker touch screen Boston Acoustics sound system with Bluetooth, media center with 30 gigabytes of storage, and a backup cam. With the upgraded sound system, the tailgate gets two speakers that, with the tailgate open, are capable of flipping down and spinning to face outside the car, making the Compass a great tailgater. Cargo space remains limited, as there's not a lot of space behind the back seats and the cargo floor is somewhat high. Safety equipment includes electronic stability control, electronic roll mitigation, Brake Traction Control, a driver-controlled three-mode Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Brake Assist, Electronic Roll Mitigation, and Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) with rough road detection are all included. Fog lights for night driving, keyless entry with lock/alarm/tailgate, factory 18" alloy wheels with plenty of tread.
